1st Concert:
Concert recorded by France Musique on June 16, 2021 at the Philharmonie de Paris - Grande salle Pierre Boulez.

Articulated by a twelve-tone series, the Concerto “In memory of an angel” consists of two movements. The first, which quotes a popular air from Carinthia, is a talkative portrait of the purity of Manon, the daughter of Alma Mahler, who died at 18. While the second, marked by tragedy and fatum, evokes illness and death, until the redemptive quote from a chorale by Bach, “O Eternity, word of thunder! ". Throughout its five movements, Mahler's imposing Symphony n ° 5 offers a shadowy journey, with its introductory funeral march, in the recapitulative light of the Finale. In the middle, the static lyricism of the illustrious Adagietto overwhelms with its harmonic sumptuousness and the expression of a pain in the process of being overcome.
