PAAVO JÄRVI CONDUCTS THE BERLIN PHILHARMONIC
Concert recording on January 31, 2020 in the Berlin Philharmonie

On January 31 of last year, Paavo Järvi was a guest of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The program featured the most famous drug intoxication in music history: the Symphonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz, the world premiere of a horn concerto by the Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen and a work by the younger Stravinsky - his second orchestral work ever: the Scherzo fantastique.

That's how it started. Stravinsky was influenced for the play by a poetic description of nature about the life of bees. You can look forward to a lot of hum and bustle in the music, and in the middle section the composer has built a little music history guessing game. Listen to whether you discover the Good Friday music from Wagner's Parsifal or the flight of the bumblebee from Stravinsky's teacher: Rimsky-Korsakov.
