Claudio Arrau and the DR Symphony Orchestra

In November 1967, the world-famous Chilean pianist Claudio Arrau was on tour in Denmark, and the DR Symphony Orchestra managed to persuade him to go to the studio on a Saturday afternoon and record two piano concerts by Chopin and Liszt. The recordings have never been released, and they have not been heard on the radio for more than half a century. Listen as the Gold Concert presents a world premiere of the forgotten Danish Claudio Arrau recordings.

Danish Christmas concert with Mogens Wöldike

The conductor Mogens Wöldike was a major figure in Danish music life, not least when it came to church music and choral music. In the Gold Concert you can hear Wöldike conducting Danish Christmas music from the 20th century, recorded for the radio's annual Christmas broadcasts with the DR Radio Choir.

Leif Segerstam dirigerer nordisk musik

For ten years, Leif Segerstam from Finland was chief conductor of the DR Symphony Orchestra, and Nordic music was one of his specialties. In the Gold Concert we get a rehearsal with a memorable Thursday concert from 1990, where he conducted three Nordic masterpieces from the beginning of the 20th century.
